H.A.L.T. … Are You Ready?

We had a very special experience last week spending two days with a group of totally committed recent breast cancer survivors on Australia’s Gold Coast. We facilitated our Stress to Strength Experience workshop.

These brave women gave 100% plus effort as they explored new ways to support their own personal healing by learning how to make stress their friend and become way more emotionally resilient.

The not-for-profit breast cancer organization called Send Me On Vacation www.sendmeonvacation.org is based in the United States and has been doing this work for six years. They serve breast cancer survivors in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Japan, Thailand and the special vacation they gifted last week on the Gold Coast, was their first venture in Australia. They send recent breast cancer survivors on wellness vacations to heal from the effects of fighting cancer.

During the afternoon of the second day when the participants were reviewing the 60 plus tools and strategies that they had been exposed to during the training, and they were creating their personal Emotional Resilience Toolkit and their individual Stress to Strength Wellbeing Strategy Plan, Lauri, one of the women had a BFO!!!

What’s a BFO you are probably thinking? Well, it’s a BLINDING FLASH OF THE OBVIOUS!!!

Lauri had journeyed from Arizona in the US to be part of the group.

She said… “for these tools and strategies to work in the best possible manner you need to

adopt the H.A.L.T. principle”

H = HUNGRY

A = ANGRY

L = LONELY

T = TIED

We then all discussed how important it is to make sure that you are always aware of your state of BEING, and how often we can get stressed because we haven’t handled one or more of these extremely important physical, mental or emotional needs we may have in a moment in time.

When just one of these areas are ‘off the rails’, our stress level can escalate dramatically.

Always check the H.A.L.T. principle when you feel stress is taking hold in your life. Only YOU can make the appropriate change.
