I cut myself a caper
When I opened up the paper
Cuz the headlines seemed to smile and shout a wild hooray!
No depressing stories
Nothing crazy, nothing gory
And I knew the world could love me on a million dollar day.
What is your definition of the ‘perfect day’? And have you ever had a day (or perhaps more than one) that was just so wonderful, so incredible, it left you glowing for weeks or even months afterwards?
I can remember days like this in my life.
My wedding day – perfect and very memorable – surrounded by the love of my family and my husband-to-be.
The day my first child was born – a revelation about how powerful love can be!
These are life-changing moments in time filled with positive energy and beautiful emotions when it seems as though the power of happiness is right there, just waiting to be tapped in a never-ending stream.
Of course, there have been bad days too. Times when that happiness and love have seemed so far away, it was impossible to reach them.
The time when my father was dying a long and painful death to be followed, just a short time later, by my mother.
Or when my son was so ill, we felt as though his life was hanging by the thinnest of threads.
When I’ve been in the midst of those darker times, my ‘Million Dollar Days’ were nothing more than a distant memory without any power to touch me or bring me back to harmony.
If only there was a way to somehow harness those feelings – preserve them for those times when things may not be going quite so right. Happiness in a bottle – what a strong tool that would be!
Luckily, there are tools available to do just that. I am still on my L’s when it comes to these issues but, thanks to Drs John and Judy Hinwood and the team at Stress to Strength, I hope to soon be opening up my happiness factory where light and love will be available in bottles or on tap!
Because I truly believe now that if we avail ourselves of the strength and the tools that each one of us has inside – if we only knew it – the ‘Million Dollar Days’ would be the rule with the down times just the exception to make us appreciate our happy times even more.
For me, calling on the white light for protection and clearance of the ‘bad stuff’ works every time. Judy Hinwood describes this as the Universal tool in her book, Stress to Strength – Mind Tools to Calm, Connect and Create.
I also find that her exercise, The Face, helps me get back to those feelings of calm and peace when all the craziness of the world is starting to make me feel more than a little bit ragged.
But we are all individuals and what pushes the right buttons for me may not quite do it for you.
I would love to hear how you manage to climb out of the doldrums and regain your equilibrium when times are hard.
If you can share your experiences in the comments on this blog post, that would be great! Let’s get a conversation going about happiness and how to achieve it.
Here I am
And it was worth every step of the way
And now I feel so fantastically free
Just like I always knew it could be
And wow! I’m so damned glad to be me
On my million dollar day
