What is the key to becoming emotionally resilient?

There is no specific one key, however, there are seven traits that many researchers have identified that are the traits that people who are emotionally resilient exhibit.

William James, MD, Harvard University, the “Father of American Psychology” talked about how important choice is in improving your quality of life.

Attending a seminar years ago the speaker said, “choosing not to choose, is choosing!” This was a modern version of William James words. It was also a real Ah…Ah moment for me.

During my years as a practising chiropractor I saw people from time to time who were ‘over the top’ with stress eating away at their physical body, mind, emotions and spirit. Some of these people could not take the steps necessary to break free of their stressors. Choice at that time in their life was a no go for them.

This week STS & SMI has a trade display at the National Mental Health Services Conference in Brisbane and I am enjoying some very interesting conversations with some worldly individuals,interesting speakers, consumer groups, advocates and health care workers.

This topic of choice is continually servicing during my discussions here and this key element of developing an impenetrable positive mindset is paramount.

When you engage in choosing an alternative behaviour that involves YOU taking charge of your life, instead of giving another person permission to run YOUR life for you, the de-stress process begins.

By embracing these seven traits into your daily living your body, mind and spirit starts to express a state of supportive wellbeing, and you start to move into the calm.
